Souad Massi Celebrating Algeria's 50th Independence Anniversary at the Kennedy Center

After the big storms hit the DC Metro Area on Friday, thousands of people were without power. I wondered if the concert would still be on...thankfully, it was! My boyfriend, Walid was very excited about the concert and as we made our way to DC we ran into some delays at the Metro (like usual) so we decided to drive. We were lucky enough to get there in time to get a seat near the front. As the concert began we looked behind us to see a few hundred more people had gathered to see Souad Massi. Souad is a beautiful Algerian singer, accompanied by a fabulous band and great energy! We were clapping, and even though I do not speak Arabic, I could still hum along to the catchy tunes!

Very unique instrument- DARBOUKA played by a very talented artist, Sheikh Rabah Khalfa :) Sheikh = Master

A lot of great energy during the concert... these two were really Jammin!

Visit the Kennedy Center Website to view the entire concert!

But the fun didn't end here! After the concert I was approached by the MBC News for an interview! Feeling a little bit shy, I grabbed Walid to interview with me, so we are both famous now! Our friends were also interviewed!

And after the interviews, we were able to meet Souad Massi and her band members!
